Bones, muscles, organs, neurotransmitters. A physical body with a mind on top, shaped by the brain.

That description isn't false. But it's incomplete.

What research in recent decades has begun to show, from biophysics to neurocardiology, including biophotonics and energy medicine, is that human beings are not just matter. We are also, and perhaps primarily, an information system. A vibration pattern. A field.

And if we want to understand why two people can be breathing the same air but live completely different realities, we have to talk about that dimension.

We are, literally, electricity.

Before discussing subtle frequencies, let's start with what any laboratory measures without debate.

Your brain works with electrical impulses. Every thought, every perception, every emotion is also an electrical pattern. Electroencephalography has been recording them for a hundred years. Beta waves when you are actively awake. Alpha waves when you are relaxed but alert. Theta waves at the boundary between sleep and deep meditation. Delta waves in the deepest sleep. Gamma waves when you are in states of intense cognitive integration.

Each of those states corresponds to a specific frequency. You measure what you're doing by the speed of your brain waves.

But the brain isn't the only musician. Every nerve in your body works with electricity. Every muscle contraction. Every heartbeat. Your heart fires an electrical impulse seventy times a minute, and that signal spreads throughout your entire body like a wave.

We are, first and foremost, a complex bioelectrical system. And what recent research is documenting is that this system doesn't end at the skin.

The heart as the main emitter

For decades, the brain was thought to be the conductor of the body. The HeartMath Institute in California has spent thirty years demonstrating something that changes this hierarchical order.

The heart generates the most powerful electromagnetic field in your body, approximately five thousand times more powerful than that of the brain. This field can be measured with magnetocardiography from several meters away from the body.

And it's not a neutral field. It changes according to your emotional state. When you feel fear, anger, or frustration, your heart rate becomes irregular and chaotic. The beats are not separated by regular intervals. This is called low heart rate variability. The autonomic nervous system is out of sync. The sympathetic nervous system speeds up while the parasympathetic nervous system slows down. Like driving a car with one foot on the gas pedal and the other on the brake at the same time.

When you feel gratitude, appreciation, or love, the pattern changes completely. The intervals between heartbeats become regular, harmonious, sinusoidal. This is called heart coherence. The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems are synchronized. All the body's systems align with the heart's rhythm: breathing, digestion, the immune response, and hormone release.

And here is the point that few understand: that state, coherence or incoherence, is emitted to the outside in the form of an electromagnetic field.

Your field touches whoever approaches

Experiments at the HeartMath Institute have shown that when two people are in close physical proximity, their hearts exchange electromagnetic information. This is not a metaphor. It is measurable with standard equipment.

A person's electrocardiogram can be recorded on the electroencephalogram of another person nearby. The heart signal of the person next to you literally reaches your brain.

This explains something everyone has experienced but little science had addressed until recently: why some people regulate us simply by being present, while others deregulate us before they even open their mouths. It's not imagination. It's bioelectromagnetism.

Your inner state is not private. It is broadcast. It is emitted. The nervous systems of those around you register it before you have said a word.

That's why a therapist in a state of coherence can help a patient regulate their emotions without saying a word. That's why a tense family atmosphere affects even the youngest child, even if no one has yelled at them. That's why the calmness of someone present in a crisis room can change the mood of the entire group.

What you radiate is real information. And your physiology is constantly receiving what others radiate.

We literally emit light

There is an even more subtle layer. One that surprises even those who have already integrated the previous ones.

Fritz-Albert Popp, a German theoretical physicist, documented in the 1980s that every cell in every living organism emits light. These are coherent light particles with wavelengths ranging from infrared to ultraviolet. He called them biophotons.

It is not thermal light. It is not an accidental byproduct of metabolism. It is coherent radiation, comparable to that of a low-intensity laser, which cells emit as a communication system.

Popp proposed, and decades of subsequent research have reinforced this idea, that DNA acts as an antenna that emits and receives these biophotons. Cells coordinate with each other not only through biochemical signals, but also through light.

And here's what connects worlds that seemed separate. Popp, along with the German physician Klaus Peter Schlebusch, demonstrated that the channels through which infrared biophoton radiation circulates in the human body coincide precisely with the meridian system described by Chinese medicine more than two thousand years ago.

What the ancients called qi, circulating through invisible channels, can now be measured with biophoton detectors. This doesn't prove that the entire traditional Chinese framework is literal. But it does confirm that what they perceived wasn't folklore. It was a real system of light communication that technology has finally begun to record.

And if we extend the implication: when your internal coherence breaks down, the coherence of that light also breaks down. Popp documented in cancer patients that biophotonic emissions had lost their natural rhythm and coherence. Cellular communication was, quite literally, shutting down.

Health, at this level, is a matter of light coherence.

The field that precedes the structure

Harold Saxton Burr, from Yale, spent four decades measuring what he called life fields. He documented that all living organisms are surrounded by a bioelectric field that is not a consequence of physical structure, but precedes it.

In his experiments with salamanders, the electrical pattern of the fertilized egg already contained the information about the form the adult animal would take. The field came first. The structure was organized later.

Michael Levin at Tufts University has brought this research into the 21st century with experiments published in Cell and Nature. His work with planarians and xenopus embryos shows that the bioelectrical patterns of tissues are not byproducts. They are organizing information. Modify the electrical pattern, and the biology reorganizes itself.

Translated into human terms: you are not just a body that produces a field. You are a field that sustains a body. Physical structure is the three-dimensional crystallization of information that operates on another level.

And that information is stored, learned, reorganized, and transmitted.

Brain waves, coherence, and access

Joe Dispenza has brought this conversation into the clinical and practical realm. His work, which combines neuroscience, epigenetics, and quantum physics, stems from an observation that Heartmath and Popp confirm from their own perspectives.

Most people spend most of their time in beta frequencies. High beta when we're alert. Even higher beta when we're anxious. We're solving, reacting, anticipating. Our brain waves are rapid and fragmented. Our heart field is incoherent. Our biophoton emissions lose rhythm.

In that state, the information we send out is disorganized. And so is the information we can receive. There is no openness. There is no access.

When we descend to alpha, the system slows down. We enter a state of waking relaxation. When we descend further, to theta, we enter a state where consciousness accesses deeper, meditative, hypnagogic layers. And when the brain and heart become coherent simultaneously, something shifts. The entire system reorganizes itself like an orchestra finally tuning up.

From that state, Dispenza says, you can emit a coherent signal sustained enough to cause your biology to reorganize. Your genes express themselves differently. Your cells develop different receptors. Your electromagnetic field changes. And with it, what resonates with you from the outside also changes.

You don't need to believe in the quantum field to understand this. Simply observe that a coherent body attracts different experiences than a chronically dysregulated body.

What does all this mean?

If you integrate all these pieces, a very different image of the human being begins to emerge from the one we were taught.

You are not just a physical body.

You are a bioelectric system with brainwaves that mark your level of access to yourself. A heart that emits an electromagnetic field that touches everyone who comes near you. An organism that emits coherent or incoherent light depending on your internal state. A bioelectric field that organizes your physical structure before the physical structure manifests. A cellular network that communicates through photons via channels that coincide with what Chinese medicine has been describing for centuries.

All at the same time. All interconnected. All responding to how you are in this moment.

And what's even more important: all of that is changeable.

What changes when your frequency changes

When you enter a state of heart coherence, a cascade of events occurs. The nervous system synchronizes. Biochemistry reorganizes. Cellular communication becomes ordered. The electromagnetic field you emit becomes harmonious. The light your body radiates regains its rhythm.

And from there, your experience of the world changes.

Not because the external world has suddenly changed. But because you are now sending and receiving information of a different quality. You see what you didn't see before. You feel what was previously blocked. People respond to you differently, sometimes without you knowing why, because their systems are registering a different field.

This is not magical thinking. It is biophysics applied to humans.

That's why practices that have been associated for millennia with transformation—meditation, conscious breathing, mindfulness, heart coherence, energy medicine—are not spiritual embellishments. They are technologies for modifying the frequency of the entire system. And by modifying the frequency, they modify everything that depends on it.

One last thing

For a long time we were taught that we are a brain with a body. Then, that we are a system of embodied emotions. Now, what research shows is that we are also, and perhaps above all, patterns of information vibrating on multiple simultaneous levels.

Electric. Magnetic. Luminous. Bioelectric. Quantum.

Each of those levels can be measured. Each one can be modulated. Each one influences the others.

Understanding this doesn't make you less human. It makes you more accurate about who you are.

And it gives you the opportunity to work on yourself at the levels where real change happens.

Because if you are frequency, you can also fine-tune yourself.

Sources and references

Becker, R.O., & Selden, G.
